Take a Proactive Approach To Peace

Understanding and preventing school violence is about more than just policies—empowering the people who can affect change every day is vital. Teachers, school staff, and other support professionals can foster a safe and supportive educational environment with proactive standards, tangible action, and quality reporting. In New York State, this commitment is embodied in the "Schools Against Violence in Education" (SAVE) Act, which mandates comprehensive school safety plans.

20
percent (roughly) of shooting victims in New York City this year were under 18.

Violence that makes headlines isn't the only issue worth educators' prevention efforts. In this comprehensive workshop, you'll gain an understanding of the warning signs, risk factors, and cues for intervention that precede acts of violence and crime in schools.

This state training is required for all educators to receive their teaching certificate/license under section 3004 of the NY State Education Law. The tools inside equip educators, administrators, school counselors, psychologists, and other support staff to shape their standard and emergency procedures and protocols. With these in place, you'll have a clear path to protecting and leading your students, reinforcing the safety and integrity of your school.

Aware. Equipped. Empowered.

Even though this workshop is only required once, the principles inside last a lifetime. Implementing school violence prevention principles and properly reporting violence warning signs are crucial in providing students with a safe and secure learning environment.

Inside your Workshops Express training, you'll find everything you need to become an advocate for student safety. At the end of this workshop, you'll be able to meaningfully contribute to and uphold your school's safety plan.
